Hugh C. Dickie, Jr., 83, a lifelong resident of Port Monmouth, passed away Wednesday, February 21st. Hugh was born in Newark, on December 23, 1934, to the late Hilda and Hugh C. Dickie, Sr. His family moved to Port Monmouth when Hugh was a child. He spent time away from the Bayshore while he served in the U.S. Army.  When he returned, he worked at Westinghouse for several years before starting his long career at Dupont, where he retired as a Warehouse Supervisor 20 years ago. Hugh was an avid Yankees fan and coached MYAA Baseball during his sons' school years. Family was the most important thing to Hugh. As his family grew, his grandchildren became the light of his life.  He also enjoyed sneaking away with his wife Dorothy, on trips to Atlantic City.
Hugh is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years,  Dorothy (Heuschkel) Dickie. He also leaves behind their four children; Christopher Dickie of Port Monmouth, Mike Dickie of Middletown, Debra Caroselli and her husband Rich of South Carolina, and Scott Dickie and his wife Deborah of Belford, along with his 5 beloved grandchildren Lauren, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Connor, and Matthew.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and again Tuesday from 9-10 am  just prior to the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The burial and committal will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
