Dorothy M. McDonald, 80, a longtime resident of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, January 15th. Dorothy was born in Jamaica Plain, Mass. on July 9, 1939, a daughter of the late Winifred and John Beath. She was raised in Boston where she met her husband, Allan. After marrying, they settled in the New Monmouth section of Middletown, where they raised their family. Dorothy was a sales clerk at the Middletown Sears for 20 years. When she was not working, Dorothy enjoyed dancing, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, travelling (especially trips to Florida) and the holidays. She hosted a big Christmas party every year for her family and friends. Dorothy will best be remembered for her infectious laugh.
Dorothy was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, Allan P. McDonald, Jr. in 2009. She is survived by their 4 sons and daughters-in-law; John McDonald, Robert and Kim McDonald, Joseph and Donna McDonald and Michael and Kimberly McDonald. She also leaves behind 7 granddaughters; Patty, Megan, Molly, Marleigh, Courtney (and her mother Tracy), Melissa and Jennifer (and their mother Soraya), along with 3 great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers; John and Donald Beath.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St, Belford. A Funeral Service will conclude the evening. The burial and committal will be private at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle N.J. Veterans Cemetery.
