Evelyn E. (Salenger) O'Neill

Evelyn E. O'Neill, 99, a lifelong resident of Navesink, peacefully passed away at her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 20th, just shy of her 100th birthday. Evelyn was born in Brooklyn on December 3, 1918, a daughter of the late Marion and Herbert Salenger. She and her family moved to Navesink when she was just an infant. Evelyn attended the Navesink United Methodist Church and was a member of the Navesink Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Evelyn enjoyed  reading and walking her dog. Her main joy in life was caring for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband John O'Neill, Jr. and her brothers Thomas and Harold Salenger, all WWII veterans. She is survived by her children John O'Neill, III and his wife Anita of Florida; Thomas and Joan O'Neill of Navesink and Sharon Tillman of Navesink. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. 
 Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Sunday from 2-4 pm and again Monday from 10-11 am just prior to the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. Burial and Committal will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
