Filomena "Minnie" Kooz, 99, a longtime resident of the Bayshore area, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 24th, at Anchor Care in Hazlet. Minnie was born and raised in Patterson, N.J. a daughter of Rose and Frank Iacobelli. She moved to Atlantic Highlands over 50 years ago and also resided in the Highlands and Middletown before retiring to Anchor Care. Minnie was one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" during World War II at the Bendix Plant in Teterboro. She was recognized by the Governor a few years back for her service and was awarded a certificate of appreciation. Minnie enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and playing Bingo at the local area churches. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and when she was able, she loved taking them shopping.
Filomena is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Rose Marie and Ronald Santee, of Atlantic Highlands. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren; Rosemary Carr, Roxanne Spatolo, and Ronald Santee, Jr. ; 8 grandchildren; Ronald J. Santee, Anthony Spatolo, Crystal Bohacki, Jillian Spatolo, Erica Wood, Amanda Carr, Ryan Carr and Brandon Wood along with 4 great-great grandchildren; Adriana, Skye, Rylee, Gavin and Roman.
Minnie was predeceased by her sister and two brothers.
As per Minnie's wishes, her funeral services were private.
