Susan Channing Grillon, 81, a longtime resident of Lincroft, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 28th, at her home with her family by her side. Susan was born in Long Branch, on October 29, 1937, a daughter of the late Elna and Henry Anable. Susan loved nature! She enjoyed being outside in her yard feeding the deer and neighborhood animals or her own chickens and goats. She had many pets over the years; dogs, cats, her farm animals, and even wild animals that she rescued from being injured. Susan had a huge heart and was very empathetic towards any living creature. She loved to laugh and had a smile that could brighten any room. She quickly became a friend to anyone she would meet. She was always active whether working in her yard, chasing fireflies or playing games with her grandchildren. She was the wife of a policeman and firefighter, she supported her community along side her husband and helped where she could. Her generous spirit and zest for life will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
Susan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Herman Grillon, July 14, 2005. She is survived by two children; her devoted daughter, Lori Grillon Bennett, and her son Steven Grillon along with his fiancé Kim Bolen and her son Christian. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Bradley, Emma and Edward Bennett ; Sheridan, Alexandra and Steven Grillon, and her brother-in-law William Oertel, Sr. Susan had three sisters; Gail Oertel, Tecia Skelding and Lee Dowd.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Saturday from 10-12 noon at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The Funeral Service will follow at the Middletown Reformed Church, 121 Kings Highway, Middletown, at 1 pm on Saturday, August 31st.
