Music by The Piano Brothers

On June 21, 2018, surrounded by loved ones, Margaret McKenna Basmagy passed away peacefully. She was 88 years old.  She was the youngest of four children (siblings Joseph, Francis, and Eileen), born in Brooklyn NY, where she lived and raised her family. In 1988, she moved to Sebastian, Florida to enjoy retirement with her husband Joseph. Together they were avid golfers, enjoyed travel and swinging around the dance floor at every opportunity. She was known for her indomitable Irish spirit, independence, sense of humor and optimism. Margaret “Marge” was a devoted mother to her 6 children. They all gratefully rest in the faith that her spirit has been restored to its eternal brilliance and she is at last reunited with loved ones lost, including her loving husband of 59 years, Joseph. Her legacy continues through her surviving 5 sons and their spouses: Joseph (Jean), James (Barbara), John (Jane), Jeffrey (MaryJude), Jerard (Maryanne) and her daughter Karen along with 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

There will be a private memorial with her immediate family.

Dementia is a devastating illness that robs a person of their vitality, memories and ultimately, their life. Memorial donations in Margaret’s name may be made to The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation

Mom, today it feels so real that your gone. We were all together as a family,
(something you always wanted for us, to be close) but you were missing. I hope your in Dad's arms once again. A look back at your life today in pictures just reinforced how truly blessed we all were. I will miss you till the day I die. Knowing I will get to be with you, dad and my parents again, leaves me at peace....... there is life eternal and life without pain. I love you Mom, always and forever, Jean ❤ Rest Peacefully Mom.

Condolences to all. It's never easy losing a close family member - but there is some solace knowing she's with her Joe - dancing in heaven - or playing a quick round of golf.

Mom...still hard to believe you're truly not with us anymore. Thank you for being my champion every day of my life. Your love never once wavered, and for that I will always be grateful. I know you and Dad have been joyously reunited. Although I'll miss you so, I am so happy that you are free to be your truest essence again and dance with your soulmate once more. I love all ways and for always <3 Karen

Much love and prayers to Karen and the entire Basmagy family. Your mother must have been a special lady to have raised such loving children. Thank goodness she had all of you and you all had each other through these last difficult years. She is resting in peace, nope, make that dancing in joy with your father again!
