Alan Washburn Obituary

Alan Bruce Washburn was born in Westfield, NJ on July 1, 1931 and passed away on September 19, 2021. After graduating from Gettysburg College, Alan was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Shortly thereafter he married Barbara Brokaw, and he received a compassionate discharge from service following the birth of their first child. Alan had a long and successful career in pharmaceutical sales and distinguished himself as a Dermatological Sales Representative with Syntex Pharmaceuticals. For many years he served as a Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church (Middletown, NJ) and was an active member of the church’s bowling league. Later in life, Alan married Evelyne MacRae and they enjoyed many years of happiness together. Alan was a passionate golfer and he and Evelyne loved traveling and dining out. After Evelyne’s passing, his caretaker Keti provided him great comfort and companionship. Always a people person, Alan made friends wherever he went due to his caring and generous spirit. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather who was proud to have become a great-grandfather shortly before his passing. Alan is survived by his daughter Deborah Carusotto, her husband Anthony, and grandchildren Jeffrey, Jamie, Danny, and Andrew Carusotto; his daughter Gail Karaman, her husband Michael Ramalho, granddaughter Jennifer Ganancio, her husband Thiago, and great-granddaughter Luciana Ganancio; his son David Washburn, his wife Lucy, and grandchildren Megan and Maia Washburn; and his stepson Duncan MacRae and his wife Susan.
