Alberta Francis (Boyd) Rifenburg, 80, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, June 22nd, at her home. Alberta was one of seven children born to the late Virginia and William Boyd. She lived in Keansburg for many years before moving to Middletown 50 years ago. Bert was a clerk at Monmouth County Department of Weights and Measures. She was a member of St. Ann's Parish and a past president of the Monmouth County Women's Democratic Organization. Bert raised funds for the Democrats and also for the Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center. Bert had to quit school when she was 16 to help care for her sister Virginia who was diagnosed with cancer. She later went back to school as an adult, got her GED and went on to study psycology at Brookdale Community College.
Alberta is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Rifenburg. She was predeceased by her brothers William, Peter, and Robert Boyd and her sisters Virginia Hembling, Patricia Generelli, and Wilma Keelen. She is survived by her brother-in-law John Generelli and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Sunday from 4-8 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St, Belford. The funeral service will be held at 7:30 that evening.
