Alfred L. Dodd, Jr., known lovingly as Al, passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on February 27, 1955, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of the late Alfred and Mary Dodd. Al’s gentle spirit, warm smile, and kind heart will be deeply missed.
Al worked many jobs throughout his life but especially loved construction. He took pride in building with his hands and formed lasting friendships along the way. He was known for his kindness, patience, and willingness to help others.
A devoted man of faith, Al was a cherished member of Jesus Fellowship Calvary Chapel in Leonardo. His favorite Bible verse reflected the hope and strength that guided his life: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” — Isaiah 40:31
Al found peace in the outdoors, enjoying quiet walks in the woods, camping, spending early mornings deer gazing, and tending to his garden. Gardening brought him a sense of calm and joy, much like nature itself. In quieter moments, he loved working on puzzles at home or at BoldAge PACE, a reflection of his thoughtful and patient nature.
Al is survived by his brother Edward Dodd, several nieces and nephews, close friends, and a loving church family. His life was marked by faith, friendship, and a love for Jesus, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 4th at 11:45 a.m. at Jesus Fellowship Calvary Chapel, 46 Leonard Ave., Leonardo.
