Alvin Nye Murphy, Jr., 76, of Bangor, PA. passed away Friday, October 4th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest in Allentown. Alvin was born in Elizabeth, NJ on October 25, 1942, a son of the late Isabella and Alvin Murphy, Sr. He grew up in Roselle and moved to South Amboy in 1970. He retired to Pennsylvania 4 years ago. Alvin was a tool and die maker at Highland Metal Products in Roselle. He was a former member of the South Amboy Volunteer Fire Company. Alvin enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was out hunting for birds or just spending time camping. He also loved animals and had many pets through the years.
Alvin was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Eileen Murphy in 2006. He is survived by their son Scott Murphy of Bangor, PA. Alvin also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Isabelle and Frank Engelhardt of Mays Landing.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Monday from 4-7 pm and Tuesday 11 - 12 noon, followed by the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford, NJ. The burial and committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown, NJ.
