Anastasia K. Kalliotzis, 98, formerly of New Milford, pecefully passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Anastasia was born in Langada, Thessaloniki, Greece on April 9, 1921, the eldest of 5 children born to the late Koula and George Kostourou. She lived in Nazi occupied Greece and left in 1948, emigrating to Montreal, Canada. She and her husband made their way to New York and eventually settled in New Milford where they raised their family. After her husband's passing, Anastasia moved to Belford to stay with her daughter. Anastasia was the quintessential mother and grandmother. She always put her family first. She embraced many old world skills, like her baking and sewing. Friends and family looked forward to her delicious Greek desserts, and as for her sewing, she made beautiful clothes for her children when they were growing up and even worked as a seamstress making silk ties for companies. She will always be fondly remembered as a loving mother, mother-in-law and "Yia Yia."
Anastasia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicholas Kalliotzis, in 1989. She is survived by their children; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Reon Swaim; and her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Caroline Kalliotzis. Anastasia also leaves behind 2 grandsons; Michael Kalliotzis, Jr. and Alexander (Karolyn) Swaim
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 467 Grandview Ave., Wykoff, NJ, at 11 am on Friday, September 27th. The burial and committal will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
