Andrew F. Stevenson, 96, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully Monday, May 17th, with his family by his side. Andrew was born on September 15, 1924, and raised in Kearny, a son of the late Jennie and Andrew Stevenson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 29th Infantry, during WW II. After the war, he met his wife Evelyn and they were married in 1953. Shortly after, in 1956, they settled in Union Beach where they would remain after raising their family. Andrew was a PSE&G driver at Linden Generating Plant for over 30 years. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and fishing. He was also known to tinker on cars. Over the years, he and his wife, Evelyn, took many road trips visiting spots across the country. Andrew will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and a man who had a personality that everyone was drawn to.
Andrew was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Stevenson in 2019 and his brother Robert in 2012. He is survived by two children, daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and Patrick Pecchia of Port Monmouth and son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Catherine Stevenson of Cliffwood Beach, He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren; Drew, Michael and Erin and her fiancé Andrew Heller.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Thursday from 9-12 pm immediately followed by the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. The burial and committal will take place at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.
