Anna Martino, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 27, 1939, and was raised in Belleville, Anna's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. After marrying the love of her life, Pete, the couple settled in Bloomfield to raise their family, later moving to Brick in 1987, and ultimately retiring in Lakewood 27 years ago.
Anna's journey through life was marked by the cherished relationships she nurtured along the way. She was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore "Toot" and Serafina "Fanny" Melchionne, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Anthony Renna. Her legacy of love continues through her devoted husband of 68 years, Pete, their three sons and daughters-in-law, Peter Jr. and Karen, Paul and Debby, Sal and Maureen, and her daughter, Anna Maria Martino. Anna's spirit will forever be reflected in the lives of her two sisters, Theresa (Bob) Scucci and Patricia (Joe) Sgroi, and her adored grandsons, Peter, Max, Matt, and Sam. As well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Throughout her career in the banking industry, Anna's integrity and dedication to service were evident to all who worked alongside her. Her professional life was characterized by a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence that earned her the respect of her colleagues and clients alike.
Anna's heart knew no bounds when it came to giving. She was an extremely generous woman, supporting many charities and always looking for ways to help those in need. Her strong Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength in times of adversity.
Travel was one of Anna's greatest joys, with Atlantic City and Las Vegas ranking among her favorite destinations. She reveled in the excitement of the slot poker machines, but it was the opportunity to create lasting memories with her family that she cherished most. Anna's love for her family was the essence of who she was, and she took every opportunity to surround herself with her loved ones.
As we bid farewell to Anna Martino, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her story is one of unwavering love, boundless generosity, and a faith that remained steadfast until the end. Anna's memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her compassionate spirit. She has left this world a better place, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Please join her family at a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, May 19th at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 339 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, NJ 07009.
