Annamaria Valentino, 71, of Atlantic Highlands, passed away Sunday, January 17th. Annamaria was born in Palermo, Italy and came to America with her husband and daughter in 1977 to raise their family in Atlantic Highlands. She and her husband opened Naples Pizzeria in Belford and ran it for many years before their retirment in 2001. Anna was very artistic and loved arts and crafts, but she was more known for her cooking. Cooking was her passion, and many dubbed her as the "best cook ever." She was a loving mother, aunt and friend who always spoke her mind. Her honesty, big heart and homemade meals will be greatly missed.
Anna was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Vincenzo Valentino in 2003. She is survived by their daughter Gemma Valentino and by her sisters Viola Conigliaro and Rosa Scalia, and her brother Giovanni LoVerde, all of Italy. Anna also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and again 9am Friday at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Agnes RC Church in Atlantic Highlands at 10:30 am followed by the burial and committal at Fairview Cemetery.
