Antonio Cofone, a devoted family man and lifelong New York Yankees fan, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of 89. Born in Italy on November 7, 1936, Antonio made the journey across the Atlantic as a young man, eventually settling in Nutley, New Jersey. He proudly called New Jersey his home for over 65 years, building a life rooted in hard work, tradition, and community.
Antonio is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Carol, who passed away in April of 2020. Together, they built a beautiful legacy that will continue to grow for generations.
A proud and loving father, Antonio is survived by his three children and their spouses: Sandra and Richard Drake; Nancy and Michael Finnegan; and Anthony and Theresa Cofone. He was the cherished grandfather of Kali Lynch, Kyle Drake, Anthony Cofone, and Brittany Cofone. Antonio was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Myla, Willa, Bria, and Amelia, and was lovingly awaiting the arrival of his fifth great-granddaughter, Carter.
Outside of his steadfast devotion to his family, Antonio was happiest when he was working in his garden, tending to it with the same care and patience he gave to his loved ones. Come baseball season, he could always be found cheering on his favorite team, remaining a loyal Yankees fan through and through.
Antonio’s warmth, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Friends and Family may pay their respects at a Memorial Gathering on Wednesday from 5 - 7 pm. A Service will conclude the evening.
