Avis W. Meyer, 90, a lifelong resident of Port Monmouth, went home to be with the Lord early Christmas morning. She was a woman dedicated to her faith and a lifetime member of the Belford United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Mary Martha Circle. When Avis was unable to go to church, she watched services on the television and particularly liked Joel Olsteen.
Avis was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Raymond Meyer, Sr. in 2008. They grew up together as neighbors in Port Monmouth and were together ever since. Avis was fortunate to have found her true love and soul mate.
Avis is survived by their two children; Ray JR. and his wife Madonna and their daughter Marie Kelly Leszczak and her husband Ed. Avis also leaves behind her sister Shirley Strobaugh and brother Ken Walling.
She was predeceased by her brother Emmett Walling and her granddaughter Michele Kelly
