Barbara Festing, 82, of Keansburg, passed away Wednesday, May 3rd. Barbara was born in Hoboken, on July 31, 1934, the eldest child of the late Lillian and Clifford Brown. Barbara lived in Jersey City before moving to Keansburg 47 years ago. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years. Barbara began her career working at hospitals but later became a private duty nurse which afforded her a more flexible schedule. Barbara was a strong, caring and selfless woman who put her family first. She loved being a mother and grandmother. She was the oldest of nine children and essentially raised 3 generations. When she was not busy taking care of her family, she enjoyed the beach and spending time in the sun; she could still rock a bikini at 65! She enjoyed watching the Giants, especially when "her man" Phil Simms was playing and made Sunday game days a family event. Barbara was also an avid animal lover. Besides her own pets, she fed the neighborhood stray cats and critters, like squirrels. Barbara had a huge heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Richard Festing in 2007 and daughters, Barbara Bojarski in 1978 and Deborah Festing in 2010, and her siblings Allen Brown, Phyllis Enny and Janice Loehwing.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Linda Soranno, of Keansburg; three sisters, Linda Otis, of Fla; Arlene Binetti, of Lodi; Elizabeth Vignola, of Holmdel; and two brothers, Cliff "Sonny" Brown, of Fla; John Brown, of Pa.. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren; John Soranno, Elizabeth Soranno, Sandra Rojas, Keith Bojarski and Neil Bojarski along with 13 great grandchildren.
