Barbara "Bobbie" McCormick, 84, of Toms River, passed away Saturday, June 20th. Bobbie was born in Passaic, NJ in 1935 and grew up in Hawthorne. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Edward McCormick, they moved to Greenwood Lake in West Milford. They purchased a summer home in Seaside Park and soon after decided to make Toms River their permanent home where they raised their 4 children. Once the children were off to school, Bobbie established herself in the real estate industry, eventually owning her own Century 21 agency. She later went on to work at ERA American Towne Realty for several years prior to retirement. Bobbie was a brilliant, active and ambitious woman. As a young woman, she enjoyed piano and dance. She also came to enjoy fishing with family and league bowling with friends. Bobbie was creative and artistic, often making clothes for her family, costumes for her children, or helping with school projects. Her special attention to detail made every holiday magical in Bobbie's home, and extended family and friends were always a welcome addition. Her devotion to her children put her front and center at all of their sporting events and special functions; she was always present for the important moments In their lives. She was an avid sports fan, and could often be found armchair-coaching hockey, football, golf and tennis with her own special form of "enthusiasm". In later years, she loved a challenging Sudoku or crossword puzzle like the NY Times. She thrived on competition, whether it was a friendly game of pinochle or blackjack in Atlantic City or Las Vegas (her favorite vacation spot!) Bobbie had so many talents and created a wonderful life full of memories for her family to cherish. Of all her accomplishments, the greatest was her family legacy.
Bobbie is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Edward McCormick and their 4 loving children: Michael McCormick and wife Tracy, Mark McCormick and wife Georgia, Marlene Pesce and partner Chris Gregson, and Theresa Haderer and husband Michael. Bobbie also leaves behind 8 beloved grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
It was Bobbie's wish that there be no services. Donations can be made in Barbara McCormick's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
You may leave your condolences here for the family to see.
