Betty "Peggy" Meko, 86, of Shadow Lake Village, passed away Monday, January 30th. Peggy was born in St John, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of the late Mary and Norman Campbell. She lived in Canada until marrying her sweetheart in 1950 and moved to Meier's Corner on Staten Island where she lived most of her life until her husband's passing and then retired to Middletown in 2010 to be nearer to her son and family. Peggy worked at Victory Blvd. Laundromat in Staten Island for nearly 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking pies.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dean Meko in 2007. She is survived by their son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Patricia Meko of Belford and her three grandsons, Paul, Thomas and John. Peggy also leaves behind two sisters, Shirley Isner, Susan McDermott and two brothers Ralph and Bruce Campbell, all of Canada. She was predeceased by her siblings; Norma Anderson, Marlene McDermott and Ralph Campbell.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Saturday from 2-5 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford.
