Charles David Cooke, 77, of Port Monmouth, passed away Wednesday, November 29th. Charles was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 16, 1946, a son of the late Dorthea and Earl Cooke. Charlie was raised in Brooklyn where he met his wife, Arlene. Charlie left to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He was a Sergeant in the US Army and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After the war, Charlie returned to Brooklyn where he would marry Arlene and raise their family. Charlie worked at the 78th Precinct Police Department in Brooklyn, for 27 years. In 2000, after retiring, Charlie and Arlene settled in Port Monmouth.
Charlie was the family cook. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always cooked for their gatherings. He looked forward to vacations at their home in the Poconos and visiting his "happy place" Knoebles Amusement Park. Charlie also enjoyed quiet time reading. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arlene Cooke and their two sons; Scott Cooke, and Charlie (Lisa) Cooke. He also leaves behind two brothers; James Cooke and Thomas Cooke, along with five grandchildren; Laken, Michael, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Andrew.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Sunday from 2 - 5 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals.
A Service will conclude the evening and a private cremation will follow.
