Charles Anthony Reed son of Thomas and Jessie Reed entered eternally rest on Wednesday January 4, 2023. He graduated from Arts High School, magnet school of the performing arts in Newark NJ. He attended Cook college, Rutgers University. He majored in psychology. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, Somerset NJ. He was a founding member of the Chosen Generation Young Adult fellowship group. He was also part of the annual men's day choir.
Charles was a fan of all genres of music from classical to rhythm and blues. Two of his favorite artists were Luther Vandross and Brian McKnight. He had an extensive music collection and was willing to talk to all about the importance of music and how to enjoy the experience. Charles was part of the Kerygma gospel choir and toured with the group throughout New Jersey under the direction of Dr Beverly Mondey-Collins. He is sang on their debut album "Keep on Believing". Charles had interests in martial arts, social justice and cooking. He also played lightweight football for Rutgers University. A devoted Cowboys football fan, he supported his team no matter their winning record. Charles had a passion to understand world events and had aspirations of traveling the world during his retirement. He retired from the US Postal Service, after decades of service.
His joy were his children and made an effort when possible to attend sporting events, concerts and cross country graduation ceremonies. He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Joshua, Cameron, Arianna and Caron. And also his sisters Thomasene, Cynthia and Janine who were the wind beneath his wings. He will be missed by his closet friend Dennis Gregory and a host of family and friends. Charles is now joining his parents, his aunts Jewel Brayant, Irene Yearwood and Ruby Wells, sisters Gayle Patterson, Cheryl Tootle and Silvia Reed in heaven.
Memorial Sevice will be held on at a later date this year at the Eagle Rock Reservation.
