Donna Villars Obituary

Donna Villars, a beacon of kindness and intelligence, passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 22, 1948, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Ralph and Doris Villars, Donna's life was a testament to her loving and caring spirit. She was a devoted daughter, a cherished sister, and a beloved friend to many.

Donna's academic journey led her to Indiana University, where she earned her Master's degree in Education. Her passion for teaching and her dedication to her students were evident from the start of her career in Indiana. Upon returning to Belford, New Jersey, she continued to inspire young minds as a 7th-grade teacher in Rahway, Red Bank, and Atlantic Highlands. Donna's commitment to education and her ability to connect with her students left a lasting impact on the countless lives she touched.

Donna is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Steven Hallgring, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and guidance. Donna's heart extended beyond her blood relatives to include dear friends Anthony Montoya and his wife Betsey Putnam, whom she considered family. Her lifelong friend, Alicia Drury, and her devoted live-in caregiver, Joyce Arhin, stood by her through thick and thin. Friends Barbara Eastmond, Risa Karr, and Sandy Sadowski, along with her beloved terrier, Macho Man, also shared in the joy of Donna's companionship.

Donna's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She had a special place in her heart for her wire fox terriers, and her dedication to showing her dogs was rewarded when her dog Jenna won Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show. Donna's creative side found expression in ceramics, and her love for travel took her and her mother, along with friends, on memorable trips to New England and across Europe.

A loving and caring daughter, Donna cared for her aging parents with unwavering devotion. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the very essence of kindness. Her intelligence shone through in her thoughtful conversations and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Donna Villars will be remembered as a woman who lived her life with love and kindness at its core. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever. As we say goodbye to Donna, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the joy of giving. Her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us of the beauty of a life dedicated to the service of others and the pursuit of one's passions.

Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, December 18th from 10 - 1pm. A Funeral service will take place at 1pm followed by the burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
