Dorothy Ann Boyer, 81, a longtime resident of Port Monmouth, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 15th. Dorothy was born in Jersey City, on September 28, 1938, a daughter of the late Dorothy and Joseph Charles. Dorothy graduated Star of the Sea Academy in 1956 and married the love of her life, James, on February 1, 1958. They lived in Sea Bright until 1962 before settling in Port Monmouth. Dorothy was a receptionist at Schoor - DePalma Engineering Firm in Manalapan, for several years. Dorothy was a member of the Middletown Elks 2179 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed travelling and visited many countries like China, Japan, Italy and Aruba just to name a few. She also enjoyed day trips to Atlantic City. Dorothy's true passion in life was her family. She loved spending time with her children and their families and especially doting on her grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, James Boyer, in 2011. She is survived by their five children; three daughters , Sharon and her husband Francis Corridon, of Keansburg; Deborah Boyer, of Browns Mills; Elizabeth and her husband Barry Goldwyn, of Middletown; and two sons James Boyer, Jr. and his wife Olga, of Phillipsburg; and William Boyer and his wife Lisa, of Port Monmouth. Dorothy also leaves behind a sister, Grace Bender, of Old Bridge, a brother, Joseph Charles and Luann, of Michigan; along with 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson William Boyer, Jr. in 2017
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Thursday from 5-8 pm and again Friday from 8-9 am at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by a dear family friend, Fr. Michael Saharic, at St. Catherine's Church, Bray Ave., Middletown, on Friday at 9:30 am. A private cremation will follow.
