Edward A. Ryan, 78, of Belford, passed away Monday, April 23rd. Edward was born and raised in Staten Island and moved to Belford 47 years ago. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was an electrician for IBEW Local 3 in Manhattan and just received his 55 year pin. Ed was an avid Mets fan and enjoyed weekly trips to Atlantic City then came home to tell stories of his Fire Bets on the craps table. He was involved with the Belford Boy Scout troop for over 20 years as a Scout Master and as Santa at holiday events. He was bestowed a service award for his involvement, but Ed was most known for being the #1 fan and supporter of his grandchildren.
Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Eileen Ryan, in 2013. Waiting in joyful hope to be reunited with him in the Kingdom of Heaven are his daughters, Ann Luongo, Natalie Soto and spouse Cristian, and his much adored grandchildren, Matthew, Tayler, Marcelo, Alexander and Sophia, along with many extended "family" members.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine's Church at 10 am on Thursday, April 26th. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your prayers and support.
