Eleanor Sculthorpe Hutzley, 99, a longtime resident of Ocean Township peacefully passed away Sunday, February 23rd, with her devoted grandchildren by her side. Eleanor was born on her family's farm in Shark River Hills, on December 31, 1920, a daughter of the late Viola and Earl Leaycraft. Ellie continued the family farming tradition. She canned her own fruits and vegetables and enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. She was a much loved woman who had a great personality and loved to tell jokes, she also taught ceramics. Eleanor put her family first. She was the family matriarch and caregiver. She will be greatly missed by us all who knew and loved her.
Eleanor was predeceased by 2 husbands, Alfred Sculthorpe and Clifford Hutzley, two daughters, Patricia Green and Joan Clayton, and three siblings. She is survived by 3 nieces, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Eleanor's life will take place at a later date.
