Elizabeth Stevenson Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Stevenson, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully at her home in Union Beach on July 9, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 31, 1944, in Kearny, New Jersey, Betty was a lifelong resident of the Garden State. She was raised in Rutherford and, after marrying the love of her life, Bob Stevenson, she settled in Union Beach 56 years ago to raise a family that would be the center of her universe.

Betty's life was one of service and dedication, both professionally and personally. She worked tirelessly as a paralegal for Ocean Monmouth Legal Services until her retirement in 2014. Her commitment to justice and helping others was evident in the care she took with each case. Alongside her career, Betty supported her husband in their family business, B & B Floor Waxing, demonstrating her unwavering partnership and business acumen.

In Betty's younger years, her community involvement was marked by her active participation in the Rutherford Order of the Eastern Star and the Harris Gardens Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Betty's interests were diverse and full of joy. She relished in the simple pleasures of life, such as reading a good book, indulging in a shopping spree, or enjoying the excitement of Atlantic City. However, her greatest joy was found in the time she spent with her family. Betty's home was a haven of warmth and welcome, always open to friends, family, and those who simply needed a place to feel loved.

Betty was the cherished matriarch of a large and adoring family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Stevenson, after 48 years of marriage, and by her siblings, Douglas Foots and Mary Collison. Her legacy lives on through her three children, Robert Jr. and his wife Kim, Melissa Stevenson-Moore and her husband Pete Moore, Wendy Massaro-Johnson and her husband Tom Johnson; her nine beloved grandchildren, Matt (Jaci) Stevenson, Amanda Stevenson, Austin Beisser, Danny (Noor) Moore, Patrick Moore, Lauren (Chris) Jackson, Nicholas (Tara) Massaro, Dylan Johnson, and Danielle Johnson; and her two great-grandchildren, Capri and Micah, with a third, Oliver, on the way. Betty also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, and countless individuals who saw her as a second mother.

Betty Stevenson was the epitome of love and kindness, touching the lives of all who knew her. Her unwavering support, her generous spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel like family will be deeply missed and forever remembered. As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in the countless memories and the enduring love she bestowed upon us. Betty's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived and the power of a heart filled with love. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come.
