Evelyn M. (Howard) Stevenson

 Evelyn M. Stevenson, 94, of Union Beach, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 10th. Evelyn was born in West York, Pa. on February 21, 1925, a daughter of the late Mary and Percy  Howard. She lived in Pennsylvania and Kearny before moving to Union Beach in 1956. Evelyn worked at Bell Telephone in her younger years. After having children, she stayed home to raise her family. Evelyn enjoyed ceramics, painting, gardening, sewing and spending time at the beach. Her life revolved around her home and family. She was proud of maintaining a beautiful home and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was very involved with her children's activities at school and with the scouts. Once her children were grown and had families of their own, the grandchildren became her pride and joy.
    Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years,  Andrew F. Stevenson. She also leaves behind their two children and their spouses; Andrew and Catherine Stevenson of Cliffwood Beach and Jeanette and Patrick Pecchia of Port Monmouth along with 3 grandchildren; Drew Stevenson, Michael Pecchia and Erin Pecchia. Evelyn was predeceased by her siblings; Edward Howard, Henry Howard, and Beatrice Heilman
    Friends and relatives may pay their respects Monday from 5-8 pm and Tuesday from 11 - 12 noon just prior to the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St, Belford. The burial and committal will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens.
