Jack H. Mrykalo, 70, of Belford, passed away Monday, July 25th. Jack was born in Newark, NJ on May 14, 1952, a son of the late Dolores and John Mrykalo. His younger years were spent in Spotswood. His family then moved to Toms River, where Jack resided until marrying Debby. The newly weds lived in Asbury Park for several years before they settled in Belford to raise their family. Jack and his family are members of the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Middletown.
Jack held many positions over the years. He worked for NJ Natural Gas for many years, starting as a meter reader and retiring as a warehouse supervisor. He then went on to open his own gym, Study Hall Gym. In more recent years, he worked for the Middletown School District where he was a custodian at the Village Elementary School until his retirement.
Jack was a homebody. He loved to be home with his family. He enjoyed spending time by his pond or around the firepit. Jack was an avid collector. He collected coins and anything Super Hero related. He could often be found in the evening watching Jeopardy,Wheel of Fortune and the History Channel. Jack will always be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man who knew how to tell a good joke. Jack will live on through his gift of eyesight, by selflessly donating his eyes so that they may help someone else.
Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debby Mrykalo, and their two children; Melissa Chambers, of Belford; and Sean (Kristie) Mrykalo, of Brick. Along with two grandchildren Caitlyn Chambers and Jaxson Mrykalo. He also leaves behind a brother Vincent Mrykalo of Utah, and three sisters, Doreen Mrykalo, of Oklahoma; Victoria Grone, of Whiting; and JoAnne McGee of Tuckerton.
A Memorial Service will take place 11 am on Saturday, July 30th at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Harmony Rd., Middletown. A Memorial Gathering will immediately follow.
