Jeanette Mika Obituary

Jeanette Mika, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at the age of 90 in Freehold. Born on December 13, 1933, in the comfort of her family home in Atlantic Highlands, Jeanette's life was a tapestry of cherished moments and enduring relationships.

Jeanette's journey began as the beloved daughter of late Paul and Elizabeth Eilenberger, whose warmth and wisdom were the guiding lights of her early years. Her life was further enriched by her marriage to her late husband, John Mika, with whom she shared a deep and abiding love until his untimely passing in 1959. Together, they welcomed their sons, James and John, and daughter, Joan, into the world. Jeanette's heart was heavy with the loss of her son James in 2016, but her spirit remained unbroken, buoyed by the love of her surviving son, John, her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and George Meyer, and her sister, Martha Werner.

Jeanette's legacy is lovingly carried on by her three adoring granddaughters, Jenna and Kurt Nale, Jessica Meyer, and Jamie Meyer, as well as her six great-grandchildren, Kurt, Oliver, Trevor, Luca, Lila, and Daphne. Her life was further graced by the presence of her siblings, LeRoy Eilenberger, Harold Eilenberger, Earl Eilenberger, Janet Eilenberger, and Frances "Pinky" Doran, all of whom predeceased her. Each family member held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A woman of many passions, Jeanette's love for the arts and painting was a testament to her creative spirit and her ability to see beauty in the world around her. Her vivacious personality shone through in her love for meeting and talking to people, always leaving a lasting impression with her sharp wit and exceptional ability to remember names and birthdays. Jeanette's sense of humor was legendary, and her talent for joke-telling brought joy and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jeanette's zest for life extended to her love of driving, whether it was to clear her head or embark on spontaneous day trips. These journeys were not just about the destination but about the freedom and joy she found on the open road.

Described by those who knew her best as loving, funny, and friendly, Jeanette's presence was a gift to her family, friends, and community. Her unwavering kindness and generosity of spirit made her a cherished companion and a treasured friend.

As we bid farewell to Jeanette Mika, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an enduring capacity for love, a boundless sense of humor, and a warm and welcoming nature that touched the lives of many. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort us, as we hold her close in our hearts, always remembering the light she brought into our lives.

Jeanette's life will be honored on Friday from 10 - 12 noon at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals.  A Service will conclude the visitation and burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. As we reflect on her remarkable journey, we are reminded of the joy she found in simple pleasures and the love she shared so freely.
