Joan Isabel (Parleman) Myers

Joan Myers, 84, a longtime resident of Belford, peacefully passed away Friday, August 5th, at Bayshore Health Care Center. Joan was the daughter of the late Madalyn and Leslie Parleman. In 1968 she married the love of her life, Samuel Myers. She was a secretary at Hanson-VanWinkle-Munning Co. in Matawan for 38 years, retiring in 1990. Joan was an active member of the Belford United Methodist Church since 1949. She was a Sunday school teacher, part of the Administrative Council, the Mary Martha Circle and chairperson of the Worship Committee. She was also a member of the Monmouth Organ Society, the Laytonians at Matawan Methodist Church, Atlantic Highlands Garden Club, Middletown Republican Club and the NARV.  Joan was an excellent cook and baker, but she was best known for her crumb cake.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Samuel Myers in 2007, and her brothers Leslie and Kevin Parleman. She is survived by her sister Beatrice Cotter, her sister-in-law Eleanor Barraclough, brother-in-law Howard Myers and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held at Belford United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, August 10th at 11am. Friends and relatives may pay their respects at the church prior to the service from 10-11. Entombment and committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
