Jonathan D. Shook, a kind, caring, and dedicated husband and father, passed away on January 26, 2024, at the age of 71. He was born on October 3, 1952, in New York City, and was a lifelong resident of Middletown, New Jersey.

Jon was raised in Belford and later settled in Port Monmouth in 1985. He dedicated 29 years of his life to serving as a paramedic. Jon began his career with the UMDNJ in Newark and retired from MONOC in 2014. Throughout his career, he was also a volunteer member and past Captain of the Port Monmouth First Aid and served as a BLS and an ACLS instructor for Bayshore Hospital, sharing his knowledge and expertise with others.

Beyond his professional life, Jon had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was an avid reader, always immersing himself in books that expanded his knowledge and understanding of the world. Jon also had a passion for antiquing, and he and his wife enjoyed attending numerous antique shows and conventions together. One of his favorite collectibles to search for were cookie jars, which he cherished and displayed proudly in their home. Additionally, Jon found solace and wonder in bird watching, often taking trips to Sandy Hook and Cape May with his wife to observe and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Jonathan D. Shook had a profound impact on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, care, and dedication touched the hearts of many, leaving a lasting impression. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a true friend.
