Joseph Kachinsky, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. Born on April 2, 1936, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Joseph lived a long and meaningful life defined by dedication to his family, his work, and the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a skilled carpenter for over 50 years and was the longtime business owner of Atlantic Coast Home Improvements.
Joseph and his beloved wife, Theresa, shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. Together they resided in Middletown, New Jersey for four decades before relocating to Mays Landing for retirement. Joseph and Theresa decided to return to the workforce and spent several enjoyable years working at Storybook Land in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, where they delighted in bringing smiles to others.
They cherished their weekly trips to Atlantic City, where they enjoyed playing the slot machines and taking full advantage of the perks that came with their casino visits—especially the dinner buffets they so looked forward to.
Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife, Theresa Kachinsky, and by his parents, John and Eva Kachinsky.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Kachinsky, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Kachinsky; his daughter, Lisa Cerwinski, and son-in-law, James Cerwinski; his sister MaryAnn Leary and brother-in-law William Leary; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a niece, nephew, and two great nephews all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Joseph will be remembered as an easygoing, kindhearted man with a remarkable sense of humor. He had a natural gift for storytelling and joke-telling, always ready with a witty remark and a belly-busting joke. His infectious smile and warm spirit had a way of lifting those around him, leaving lasting impressions of laughter, comfort, and love.
His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
