Maria (Dolan) Vignola

Maria Vignola, 71, of Hazlet, passed away Tuesday, January 18th. Maria was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 27, 1950, a daughter of the late Rose and John Dolan. She was raised in Brooklyn, then lived in Queens before she and her family settled in Hazlet 34 years ago. Maria retired as the bank manager at Bank of America in Little Silver. She was also a realtor with Weichert Realtors in Holmdel for several years.

    Maria was a wonderful woman who always put everyone else's needs first. Her husband, Frank, belongs to the Disabled American Veterans, so Maria made sure that he made it to every monthly meeting in Trenton and since she would be there for the meetings, she became their honorary secretary, taking the minutes and helping out where she could. Maria also volunteered every year with the Not Your Ordinary Dancers at their recital. Even after her daughter outgrew the dance school, Maria and Frank would work the recitals selling tickets and merchandise. Maria was on the Board of Education in Hazlet during her daughter's grammar school years. When Maria had a day for herself, she enjoyed trips to the casino, whether it was in Atlantic City or in the Poconos. Maria will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and dear friend to many.

     Maria is survived by her husband of 51 years, Francis "Frank" Vignola, and their daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Lee Tyler along with her grandson, Henry.

     Maria was predeceased by her father John Dolan; mother, Rose and stepfather Lewis Mutner along with her brother Jerome Dolan.

     A Memorial Gathering will take place Saturday from 3 - 5 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A service will conclude the afternoon around 4:45.
