Born on January 15, 1928 to Frederick and Elizabeth Meyer Lauer; the 7th of eight children. Four sisters: Caroline Letts, Elizabeth Harrell, Augusta Scarpa and Amelia Curley; three brothers: Frederick aka Spike, Edward (Ursula) and Theodore (Josephine). She attended Leonardo High School and graduated with the class of ’45. Married Edward H. Golden, Jr on April 25, 1948. She was the bookkeeper, parts runner and partner in their business (Ed’s Auto Service), Rt. 36, Atlantic Highlands. Marie and Ed had four children together: Carol Jacobsen, Stephen, Fred (Kay) and Diane Nuttall (Philip). When youngest was in High School Marie went to Brookdale Community College and graduated in 1976. Marie was employed by Riverview Medical Center in the Social Services Department. After retiring from Riverview, Marie went to work at Brookdale Community College in the Community Development Office. Marie retired from there in 1999. Retirement has been traveling, taking history courses at BCC and tending her garden. Marie’s greatest legacy is her four grandsons; Darrel, Ryan, Kieran (Beth Anne) and Sean (Jenny). Her five great grandsons; Laef, Eamon, Shea, Henry and Edward and her two great granddaughters; Caydence and Emma. She always felt she had the “Best of all possible worlds.”
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 1:00-4:00 at Scott & Kedz Funeral Home, 153 Church Street, Belford, NJ 07718
Interment will be private per Marie’s request.
