Michael James Drury, 72, of Belford, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, December 8th. Michael was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, on September 15, 1947, a son of the late Nora and Michael P. Drury. After marrying the love of his life, he moved to Belford. Mike worked as an electrician at Hoffman-LaRoche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley for many years retiring in 2008. Prior to that, he worked at Ciba Geigy in Summit until its closing.
Mike was an avid reader and a music aficionado. He loved to learn things by reading or regularly surfing the internet. Mike enjoyed travelling with his wife. Their most recent trip was for their anniversary when they travelled to Switzerland and Austria this past summer. Mike will always be remembered for his sense of humor and for telling entertaining stories. He was well liked by everyone, including every dog he met along the Hudson Trail where he walked daily. He also was a member of the Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club in Jackson and took great pride in his gun collection.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Alicia (Brown) Drury. He also leaves behind his sister, Kathleen Barry, of Manahawkin, and brother and sister-in-law, James and Audrey Drury, of Massachusetts, along with his and Alicia's many nieces, nephews and friends and Alicia's siblings. Michael was predeceased by his sister Eileen Oxley.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Saturday from 2 - 5 p.m. at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St, Belford. A Funeral Service will conclude the evening and a private cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Marine Toys for Tots Program or Fulfill Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
