Michael R. Gerun, Sr., 74, of Wellington, FL., passed away Monday, January 18th, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Michael was born in Innsbruck, Austria on November 19, 1946, a son of the late Maria and Simon Gerun. His family emigrated to the United States when Michael was a baby. He was raised in New York City and lived there until the 1980's when he moved to Monmouth Beach, New Jersey and later Wall. Michael eventually retired in Florida, 10 years ago. Michael worked at CCS or Community Counseling Services in Wall for many years and retired as their Chief Financial Officer. While relaxing at home, Michael could often be found watching sports on the television or tending to his collections of stamps and coins.
Michael is survived by his beloved sons; Michael, Jr., David, and Mark, of Highland Park. He also leaves behind his brothers Simon and John along with their sister, Elizabeth.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Friday, January 29th from 4 - 7 pm and again Saturday from 8 - 9 am at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. The Latin Funeral Rite will be celebrated at Saint Catherine's Church, Bray Ave in Middletown, at 9:30 am on Saturday, January 30th, with Father Daniel Hesko officiating. The Burial and committal will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
