Michael P. O'Donnell, Sr., 71, of Middletown, passed away Thursday, December 16th, after complications of Covid-19. Michael was raised in Port Monmouth, a son of the late Josephine and James O'Donnell. He lived in the Middletown area all his life. Mike was a boiler maker and belonged to the Boiler Maker Union Local 28 in Bayonne., for many years.
Mike was an active member of the Belford United Methodist Church and could often be found there helping out, or you might have seen Mike around town having coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed collecting scrap metal. Mike will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and a true gentleman.
Michael was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Mary O'Donnell, in 2017. He is survived by their children; two daughters, Chantal (Ron) Harvey and June (Darrin) Smith; along with four sons, William ( Susan) Harnett; Thomas (Sharon) Donovan; Patrick (Colleen) Donovan and Michael (Jasmine) O'Donnell, Jr. He also leaves behind two sisters, Elizabeth Krause and Geraldine Dunn; a brother, Joseph O'Donnell; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Sunday from 2 - 5 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Funeral Service will conclude the afternoon around 4:30 and a private cremation will follow.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family will be accepting donations to help with expenses.
