Nancy L. (Tammie) Helwig, 72, a lifelong resident of Belford, passed away Tuesday, December 27th, surrounded by her family at home. Nancy was born in Summit, New Jersey on January 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Muriel and Neil M. Brown. She moved to Belford as a child. Nancy worked as a special needs teacher's assistant for 24 years. She started at Bayview Elementary School and retired from Nutswamp Elementary over 10 years ago.
Nancy was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She loved spending time with her husband, Bob. They enjoyed camping together. They liked to bring their granddaughters camping and attended their sporting events whenever they could. Nancy loved going to the beach, singing and attending church at Kings Highway Faith Fellowship. Nancy will fondly be remembered as a patient, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Robert Helwig and their son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Katie Helwig. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Laura Brown along with her two cherished granddaughters; Haley and Emily.
