Phillip Gordon Malland, 70, of Belford, passed away Monday, February 12th. Phil was born in Jersey City to Eleanor (Cameron) Malland and the late Chester Malland. His family moved to the Bayshore area when he was young, and he lived in Belford most of his life. Phil worked as a commercial fisherman for several years before joining Local 472 as a Heavy Construction Laborer. Phil was very athletic; he played softball and basketball. He also enjoyed following sports and was an avid NY Giants and San Francisco Giants baseball fan. He was often found watching his teams alongside his friends at the Meadowview.
Phil is survived by his mother, Eleanor Malland; two sisters and their husbands, Jeanne and Jerry Gough, of Leonardo, and Barbara and Dave Hegeman, of Belford; along with a brother, Don and his wife Linda Malland, of Brick; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on Phil's birthday, Sunday, February 18th from 4-6 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St, Belford. A Memorial Service will conclude the evening.
