Preston F. Gillam, 78, a lifelong resident of Belford, passed away Thursday, July 25th. Preston was born in Red Bank on January 10, 1941, a son of the late Irene and George Gillam, Sr. Preston taught special education with the Matawan School District for many years. When he was not working, he enjoyed bird watching, and day trips with his friend Mike. Preston was a history buff. He was known for sharing stories about his time served in the Army and history in general. He proudly served his country during the Viet Nam war.
Preston was predeceased by his parents, George and Irene Gillam and his sister Doris Sullivan. He is survived by his brother George Preston, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Preston also leaves behind his dear friends Valda Fuller and Mike Reyes.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Monday from 5-7 pm and Tuesday from 11:30 - 12:30 pm just prior to the Funeral Service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. Burial and committal will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.
