Richard R. Berling, 73, a lifelong resident of Middletown and most recently of Whiting, passed away Sunday, July 8th. Richard served in the 25th Infantry of the US Army during the Viet Nam War. Richard had a brilliant mind and was an engineer. Even in his spare time, he would tinker with things. Richard belonged to the NRA and enjoyed shooting at the pistol range. He also had his private pilot's license and flew his plane out of Allaire Airport. Richard also had a love of Corvettes and owned several over the years.
He is survived by his brother Robert Berling and his two sisters Nancy Smith and Sandra Ketterer along with his beloved cat, Becker.
