Rocco Marchetta Obituary

Rocco A. Marchetta, a cherished family man, passed away peacefully at home in Middletown on July 2, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on March 13, 1937, in Jersey City, Rocco's life was a testament to his loving, friendly, and kind nature.

Rocco spent his formative years in Jersey City before establishing roots in Bayonne and Newark. In his later years, he moved to Middletown to be closer to his beloved family. Rocco's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family, which included his sons Rocco and his wife Jenny, and Anthony with his husband Steve Kingsbury, his daughters Lena, Mary, Carleen, and Joan, along with his sister Margaret Gallucci. He was a proud grandfather to Marie Finley, Virginia Finley, and Samantha Marchetta, and a doting great-grandfather to Alex, Bella, and Aurora. Rocco was predeceased by his siblings Alfred, Frank, Pasquale "Patty", Anthony, and Catherine, who he fondly remembered throughout his life.

Rocco's career was as robust and varied as his personality. He began as a truck driver for the Teamsters Local 461, where he was known for his strong work ethic and camaraderie with his fellow drivers. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to operate his own trucking business, a construction company, and several other small businesses over the years.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Rocco was deeply involved in the early part of his children's lives, always present and supportive. He served as the Past President of the Greenville Little League, where he encouraged and cheered on young athletes with enthusiasm. Rocco's generosity extended to his role as a volunteer Santa for the Boys and Girls Club and the Knights of Columbus in Jersey City, bringing joy and laughter to countless children during the holiday season.

Rocco's interests reflected his love for life and community. He cherished spending time at the beach, often seen with a cigar in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, embodying the spirit of relaxation and contentment. His presence at community events and his willingness to lend a hand were hallmarks of his character.

Rocco A. Marchetta's legacy is one of love, friendship, and kindness. His memory will be treasured and his life celebrated by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rocco's journey through life was a remarkable one, and he will be deeply missed by all.
