Ronald "Ron" Schnoor, a lifelong resident of Belford, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on March 8, 1938, Ron was a man whose presence was as steady and reliable as the tides, and whose life was as rich and full as the sea he so loved to sail.
Ron's journey through life was marked by the love he shared with his beloved wife, Joy Schnoor, who predeceased him in 2012. Together, they navigated the waters of life with grace and affection. Ron was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Schnoor, with whom he shared many cherished memories. His legacy continues through his stepsons, William and Donald Dender, and his adoring grandchildren, Kelly and Matthew, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
A seasoned commercial fisherman, Ron dedicated many years to the Belford Seafood Co-Op, where his hard work and commitment to his craft were well known and respected. His hands, weathered from the salt and wind, were a testament to his dedication to the sea and the community he served.
Ron's interests extended beyond the ocean's horizon. He was an avid gardener, finding solace and joy in the earth's bounty. His home was a testament to his handiness, with every nook and cranny bearing the marks of his tinkering. The melodies of his player piano often filled the air, a sweet soundtrack to his life's moments.
Neighbors and friends frequently spotted Ron in his quintessential attire—a flannel shirt and hat—sitting outside in the sun, a pipe in hand, lost in the latest news stories. This simple pleasure was a cherished ritual, a moment of tranquility in the bustling world.
Described by those who knew him as handy, kind, and generous, Ron's character was the foundation upon which he built his life. His generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many within the Belford community.
Ron Schnoor's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of hard work, love, and kindness. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring impact he has left on the world. His memory will be carried on the ocean breeze, felt in the warmth of the sun, and seen in the blooms of the gardens he so lovingly tended. Ron's story is one of a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service will take place at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 7th at Bayview Cemetery.
