Rowland Edward Voorhees, 85 formerly of Belford passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home in Clermont, Fla. after a long illness.
He was born in Long Branch, NJ, the son of Edward Voorhees and Margaret Rowlands Voorhees. He was a graduate of Leonardo High School, Middletown. Rowland retired from the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., Asbury Park, NJ. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard during the Korean War, Barnegat Bay Power Squadron, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Legion in NJ and Florida and also the BPOE Elks and Moose lodge.
He was a member of Hillside Community Church, Minneola.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Bernice Baldringer, he was predeceased by sister Ethel Voorhees Davis.
He is survived by brother in law Jim Davis, a nephew Blair Davis, cousins Anne Atkins, Dr. Bonnie Kline, Laurie Moulliet and Jennifer Atkins all of Florida and Maine, and good friends David and Pearl Atkins, Regina Smith and Dale Foshee all of Clermont, FL.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 14th at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
Friends and family may meet just prior by the cemetery office, just inside the cemetery entrance off route 35S.
