Sophie Anthopulos, 88, a lifelong resident of Port Monmouth, passed away Monday, October 9th, peacefully at home with her beloved family by her side. Sophie started her nursing career at Jersey Shore Medical Center in the Surgical, Burn and Wound Care Unit; she later became an industry nurse at Lily Tulip until their closing and retired from Anchor Glass in Cliffwood. Sophie was the baby sister to 4 brothers whom she adored and kept inline. Family was so important to her. Sophie was generous, supportive, insightful and gave her love unconditionally. Sophie had a passion for cooking Greek food; every Sunday she would prepare a full course meal from scratch for anyone who wanted to come over. Sophie was also an avid Yankees fan.
Sophie is survived by her beloved and devoted nieces, Marybeth and Tina; her nephew Kevin (Antoinette) Anthopulos; niece Maryann (William) Drexler and great nieces and nephews; Michael, Sophia, Nicholas, Catelyn, Braydyn and Anthony. Sophie also leaves behind her dear friends Lionel and Diane Caron, Joyce Fallon and Amy Masters. Sophie was predeceased by her brothers; Ernest, Dennis, James and Chris.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Friday from 10-11 am with the funeral service to follow at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The burial and committal will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
