Sylvester A. Fanelli, 88, of Leonardo, passed away Monday, September 25th, peacefully with his family by his side at King James Care Center. Sylvester was born and raised in New York City, a son of the late Carmella and Rocco Fanelli. He moved to Keansburg in 1979 and later to Leonardo. Sylvester was a brick mason and belonged to the Brick Layer Union Local 1 in New York. He was a "Brick layer and horse player." Sylvester enjoyed trips to Monmouth Park and Atlantic City, but most of all, he cherished his great grandchildren.
Sylvester is survived by two daughters, Michelle Petsch, of Pa. and Judith Fanelli, of NY. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Matthew Smith and Jocelyn Smith along with 2 great grandchildren; Liam and Bailey.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. A funeral service will conclude the evening.
