Timothy Taylor Obituary

Timothy Victor Taylor, lovingly known as “Opey,” passed away on May 14, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on November 27, 1966, in Long Branch, he was the son of the late Victor Lee Taylor and Joan Taylor-Shipley.
Tim was a lifelong resident of Highlands and attended Henry Hudson Regional School. The water called to him early in life, and he found where he belonged working as a Lobsterman with Cottrell Lobsters. Being out on the water brought Tim peace, purpose, and a sense of freedom that few things else could. The sea was where he felt most himself. Over the years, Tim also spent time helping his father in the fencing business when needed. He lived life in his own way and on his own terms, never pretending to be anything other than who he was. Those who knew Tim understood his quiet nature and the softer side beneath it all.

Outside of work, Tim enjoyed watching sports — a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins — and following NASCAR. He appreciated simple things and time spent around the people who knew him best.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Taylor-Shipley; his sister and best friend, Tammy Taylor, and her husband Dennis; his three grandchildren, Leah, Peyton, and Richie; his nieces, Tina and her husband Kyle, and Dana and her partner Justin; and his girlfriend, Kat. He was predeceased by his father, Victor Taylor; and daughter, Jaqlyn Taylor-Bresch, with whom he now begins his next chapter — reunited once again, happily with a beer in hand.

Though his time on earth has ended, those who knew Tim will remember him in their own ways — through stories shared and memories that remain after his passing. Now, may he find his peace upon the seas he loved so much.
