Werner H. Beutel "Bert" , 91, a longtime resident of Middletown, peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 5th, with his family by his side at Chapin Hill Nursing Home in Red Bank. Bert was born in Oggersheim, Germany on December 11, 1922, a son of the late Elsa (Barth) and Walter Beutel. After to moving to America, he went on to serve in the US Navy during WWII where he was stationed on three different destroyers in Pearl Harbor. Bert became a plant manager for Dupont at several of their facilities eventually retiring from their Parlin plant in 1984 after a 37 year career.
Bert was predeceased by his son James Currie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Doris Beutel and four step children; Susan Britton, of North Carolina; Lisa Bisbee, of Oakhurst; Melanie Herbek, of Leonardo;
and Jeffrey Britton of Pennsylvania. Bert is also survived by his two sisters, Gertrude Sierer and Margot Ramos, both of Connecticut; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Friday, August 8 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and again Saturday from 12-1pm just prior to the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The burial and committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
