William F. Fisler, 91, of Port Monmouth, peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 16th, at Riverview Medical Center. William was born and raised in Belford, a son of the late Marguerite and Henry Fisler. He lived his entire life in the Bayshore area between Belford and Port Monmouth where he was a commercial fisherman. He was part owner of the "Swan" and a member of the Belford Seafood Co-op. William proudly served in the US Navy as a gunner on a carrier ship during WWII. When not working, he enjoyed playing the accordion and hunting.
William is survived by three daughters, Carol Viaud and her husband Art, Ellen Fisler and Joanne Fisler, all of Fla; and his son,Michael Fisler, of Port Monmouth. William is also survived by his longtime companion Betty Moody; two brothers, Henry Fisler Jr, of Little Silver; and George Fisler, of Fla.; two grandchildren Art Viaud Jr (Jen) and Robin Gallo and 4 great grandchildren; Juliann, Angela, Anthony and Zachary
Friends and relatives may pay their respects Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 10 - 11 am followed by the funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. Burial and committal will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
