William E. Bost, 76, a long time resident of Hazlet, passed away Tuesday, September 6th. William was born in Newark, on May 5, 1946, a son of the late Lorette and Ernest Bost. He and his family lived in Newark until Bill was about 5 years old, they then moved to East Newark where he resided until he married. After high school, in 1964, Bill married his sweetheart, Darlene DeMarco. They lived in Kearny until 1976, when they decided to raise their family in Hazlet. Bill was a police officer for the City of Newark for several years before becoming injured on the job.
In his younger years, Bill raced cars at Englishtown Speedway. He won several trophies in the Quarter Mile and drag racing. More recently, he enjoyed time at home collecting sports memorabilia and coins. He will always be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darlene Bost and their four children; William Bost, David (Mary) Bost, Deborah Bost Gutierrez, and Richard Bost. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his brother Robert.
